Question:

With today’s technology, are we allowed to honour DNR provided by phone? Eg. a photo?

Answer:

According the Do Not Resuscitate Standard Training Bulletin A valid DNR must be properly filled out original form, or a photocopy of the properly filled out original DNR formSWORBHP Medical Council’s interpretation is that a picture of the properly originally filled out form would fall under the category of a “photocopy”, however given this is a BLS PCS, we suggest directing this question to your appropriate Service LeadThe OBHG MAC has been and continues to advocate to the MoH for reform to the DNR Standard to allow for a wider acceptance of end of life care documentationUntil that time, paramedics should continue to follow the Do Not Resuscitate Standard.
