About Our Awards
We believe that being recognized for the excellent work you do as a paramedic is very important, not only to you but to us as well. Receiving positive feedback and being honored for your accomplishments builds self-esteem, establishes a rapport, and provides for meaningful communication.
SWORBHP has four Paramedic Recognition Awards. Please select from the following awards to view our criteria, submit a candidate, and view previous award recipients!
Prehospital
Newborn Delivery Award
Prehospital Newborn Delivery Award Criteria
- Paramedic crew delivered the baby.
- A Midwife or family member is on scene, delivery has not yet taken place, and Paramedic crew assists in the delivery.
- NOTE: if baby has already been delivered and you transport, this does not qualify.
Medical Director’s
Commendation Award
Medical Director’s Commendation Award
Nominations:
• Deadline for submission of nomination forms in the current year is October 1st
• Nomination forms can be accessed through our website
• Confirmation of receipt of nomination will be sent by email to the individual submitting the nomination
Award Criteria – includes, but is not limited to:
• Facilitating the delivery of excellent prehospital care
• Providing exemplary care that goes above the call of duty
• Delivery of outstanding care in a challenging call
Limitations
• All decisions will be by consensus of the Medical Directors and Program Manager
• All nominations will require the approval of the Service Operator
• The paramedic nominated must be a certified paramedic or paramedic student in good standing with the SWORBHP
• All actions taken by the paramedic as nominated must be in compliance with the current Basic Life Support Patient Care Standards and Advanced Medical Directives
Award recipients will receive a personalized certificate.
Prehospital
Save and ROSC Award
Prehospital Save and ROSC Award Criteria
SWORBHP Prehospital Save Award Criteria:
- Paramedic crew present a patient to the ED with a prehospital ROSC and patient is discharged from hospital.
- Paramedic crew present a viable VSA patient to the ED, patient is resuscitated in the ED and patient is discharged from hospital. If you are unsure if the patient was resuscitated in the ED, please complete this form and we will attempt to verify patient outcome.
SWORBHP Return of Spontaneous Circulation (ROSC) Award Criteria:
- Paramedic crew present a patient to the ED with a prehospital ROSC. Patient did not survive to discharge.
- SWORBHP is unable to determine if the patient survived to discharge.
Medical Director’s
Award of Excellence
Medical Directors Award of Excellence
Nominations:
• Deadline for submission of nomination forms in the current year is October 1st
• Nomination forms can be accessed through our website
• Confirmation of receipt of nomination will be sent by email to the individual submitting the nomination
Award Criteria – includes, but is not limited to:
• Outstanding clinical judgment and actions during a difficult or complicated clinical scenario
• Demonstrated leadership in a complicated multiple agency response
• Leadership and participation in education or administration activities over and above regular clinical responsibilities
• Advancing the practice of paramedicine by advocating on behalf of paramedics in multiple agency strategic planning for the future
• Demonstrating outstanding initiative in proposing valid constructive changes to the current structure of EMS with end result of adopting improvements to the current system
Limitations
• All decisions will be by consensus of the Medical Directors and Program Manager
• All nominations will require the approval of the Service Operator
• The paramedic nominated must be a certified paramedic or paramedic student in good standing with the SWORBHP
• All actions taken by the paramedic as nominated must be in compliance with the current Basic Life Support Patient Care Standards and Advanced Medical Directives
Award recipients will have their name engraved on a plaque which is displayed at the Base Hospital office in London and will receive a personalized certificate.
