Question:
What time-frame is considered Immediately after delivery for administration of Oxytocin if we arrive on-scene after the baby is delivered?
Answer:
We understand that inherently with the prehospital world, you are not always on-scene when the baby is delivered. We recommend you administer the Oxytocin as early as possible, as this will give the most benefit in preventing postpartum hemorrhage (PPH). That being said, we know and heard during MCME that you would like a hard cut-off to use without having to patch the BHP. In this instance, we would suggest going ahead and giving the oxytocin up to . Oxytocin is infused following birth in-hospital up to 4 hours post-delivery.
