Question:

Why is ibuprofen contraindicated in cases of active bleeding and cva/tbi in the past 24 hours?

Answer:

Ibuprofen inhibits platelet aggregation and can increase bleeding risk.  This can worsen the outcome in stroke and/or traumatic brain injury that are prone to cerebral edema and re-bleeding in the acute (24h) period.  Therefore, it is contraindicated in cases of active bleeding and CVA/TBI within the past 24 hours.
