Question:

Can we just wear a surgical mask and goggles for all AGMPS and optional gown if we want to? Shouldn't there be an update for our PPE as well and not just our screening tool, now that we know a little bit more about COVID? Thank you!

Answer:

The most recent suggestions from Public Health Ontario include Airborne Precautions should be used for aerosol generating medical procedures (AGMPs) planned or anticipated to be performed on patients with suspected or confirmed COVID€19. Airborne precautions include an N95 mask/respirator instead of a surgical mask.

These suggestions are based on the most recent evidence, as we learn more about the virus and the variants that have emerged.

Please refer to your Service policies regarding PPE.
