Question:

Question: I understand there is no current contraindication for giving gravol to an actively vomiting patient with a suspected head injury, or to pregnant patients. Would I be wrong to withhold the drug from either patient?

Answer:

The Nausea and Vomiting Medical Directives is designed to alleviate patient symptoms. As a paramedic, you form an integral component of the health care system. Significant effort, time, and expense have been invested in creating and maintaining the EMS system in Ontario. If you have the ability through your scope of practice to render aid to a patient in need of care, it is our recommendation and expectation that this is provided when the indications are met.
