Question:

Hi,
For in-line suctioning pressures via the ETT and tracheostomy tube/gastric port suctioning via the i-gel, the suctioning pressures are clearly stated in the ALS PCS but for direct oropharyngeal suctioning with the wide bore suction tube and yankauer, I have not seen any table.

Most sources online say it should be less than 200mmHg for oropharyngeal suctioning via the yankauer for an adult but in my paramedic services we do 500-550mmHg for adults.

Where can I get a reference for all ages that supports this?

Thank you.
