Question:

How does '' take home narcan kits'' that are left with pt and family of opioid use pts fall under the '' dispensing of medication'' under the ambulance act.
is this considered dispensing of medication by paramedics , of any designation, pcp , acp or community paramedic as SWORBHP social media post(s) about dispensing medications was recently released across multiple social media platforms

Answer:

First off, we are so glad you are reviewing our education posted on social media! Great question. These kits/naloxone medication are not prescribed under the SWORBHP Medical Director’s license, as all other medications are within the ALS PCS. These medications are widely available and delegated by your local Public Health Department. Therefore, this falls outside of the Ambulance Act for 911 care. We have a new tip on this very topic: Dispensing Naloxone vs 911 Naloxone which will be posted shortly
