Nitro Maximum Dosages

If STEMI Identified: 3 doses ​

If STEMI NOT identified: 6 doses

Why Only 3 Nitro for STEMI Patients?

Per the OBHG Companion document, “The reduced number of doses in STEMI reduces adverse outcomes associated with liberal nitroglycerin use”.​​

This was an answer to a recent Ask MAC (Jan 19,2022) Question. 

Summary

The maximum number of doses of nitro (where applicable) is 6 for patients with ECGs non-diagnostic of STEMI and 3 for ECGs diagnostic of STEMI.​​​

This is to reduce adverse effects in STEMI patients
