Question:
For a pt who has sustained a head injury and is combative, as an ACP are we able to give low dose midaz or ketamine if required for everyone's safety? Obviously you don't want to alter them more but if we are unable to safely transport them is there anything we can do? Or just get police to help restrain them. Thanks.Â
Answer:
The Combative Patient Medical Directive does not exclude patients who have a suspected head injury. Therefore, the combative patient that you describe could be considered for application of the Combative Patient Medical Directive. In addition, you may consider a patch to the BHP for advice on optimal treatment of this patient.Â
