Question:

If a patient has a presumed medical event that leads to trauma (ie, falling down stairs, mvc) and goes VSA, are they treated under medical or trauma cardiac arrest?

Answer:

It can be difficult to tell what caused a cardiac arrest. If there does not appear to be a mechanism or injuries severe or consistent with causing an arrest, you can consider utilizing the Medical Cardiac Arrest Medical Directive, instead of the Trauma Medical Cardiac Arrest.
