Question:

If a patient is given first time Nitro by a PCP IV but then isnt ever actually prescribed nitro by a doctor does this count as prior hx of nitro use? Could a then PCP non IV give this pt nitro the next time they call?

Answer:

Prior history of nitroglycerine is defined as previously authorized or prescribed to the patient for use by a certified Medical Doctor, per the OBHG Companion Document. SWORBHP MAC would like to see a patient directly prescribed nitroglycerine to meet this pervious use criteria. Therefore, previously receiving nitroglycerine only through a Medical Directive would not count as prior history of nitroglycerine use.
