Question: What is the reason why IV certified PCPs cannot bolus PEA patients?

 Great question. Unfortunately, there is a lack of evidence that in the setting of cardiac arrest that an IV fluid bolus (along with standard cardiac arrest management) affects patient outcome vs standard cardiac arrest management alone. Much work is being done looking at optimal cardiac arrest management strategies so it is conceivable that this recommendation may change with future AHA Guidelines (next release 2015) so stay tuned!
