Question:

Can I give a pediatric patient some juice, with their dexamethasone, to make it more palatable? I see this done in-hospital.

Answer:

It is safe to use juice to improve the palatability of dexamethasone. Please remember that when grabbing unlabelled juice out of family fridge or school fridge that there is a potential interaction with grapefruit juice as it inhibits CYP3A4 which causes slower drug breakdown increasing levels (in addition to being bitter and likely will not help with improved palatability).
