Question:
Q:Â
pt has been dx by a doctor with pneumonia and the pt is now septic from not taking anti-biotics. Pt is hypotensive from sepsis and has the crackles in lungs from the pneumonia- not fluid overload from CHF. Is it okay to bolus this pt?Â
Answer:
Please see the Ask MAC from November 28, 2017. If you believe that the patient is not showing signs of overload, then it is reasonable to administer IV fluids, per the Intravenous and Fluid Therapy Medical Directive. Please make sure to document your rationale clearly
