Prehospital Care Specialist
The Pre-Hospital Care Specialist (PHCS) is accountable for (in conjunction with the Regional Base Hospital Leaders and Medical Directors) developing, facilitating and delivering educational opportunities for paramedics in Southwestern Ontario. This would also include the certification of new paramedics and continuing medical education for a broad range of practice competencies and medical directives. Using a just culture approach, looking at a standardized process with established benchmarks and analysis of paramedic patient care activities; the PHCS assures patient safety by evaluating performance and monitoring compliance with standards. With educational, operational and clinical expertise, the PHCS is a professional role model and resource for paramedics of all levels.
Bio: Dwayne joined SWORBHP in November 2008 as a full time Prehospital Care Specialist (PHCS). Dwayne holds a Masters of Arts in Bible and Theology from Calvary University, a Bachelor of Arts from Trinity Bible College and Theological Seminary, a diploma in Ambulance and Emergency Care from St. Clair College and Advanced Care Paramedicine from Fanshawe College. Dwayne is a Nationally Certified EMS Educator through the National EMS Educators Certification Board and holds a Nationally Certified Investigator and Inspector certificate through the Council on Licensure, Enforcement & Regulation. He has a Professional Certificate in Adult Education from The University of Western Ontario. He currently works part time as an Advanced Care Paramedic for Lambton County EMS. Dwayne was part of the EMS team that won the 2010 Israel Paramedic Championships.
