Prehospital Care Specialist

The Pre-Hospital Care Specialist (PHCS) is accountable for (in conjunction with the Regional Base Hospital Leaders and Medical Directors) developing, facilitating and delivering educational opportunities for paramedics in Southwestern Ontario. This would also include the certification of new paramedics and continuing medical education for a broad range of practice competencies and medical directives. Using a just culture approach, looking at a standardized process with established benchmarks and analysis of paramedic patient care activities; the PHCS assures patient safety by evaluating performance and monitoring compliance with standards. With educational, operational and clinical expertise, the PHCS is a professional role model and resource for paramedics of all levels.

Bio: Micheal joined SWORBHP in August 2018 as a part-time Prehospital Care Specialist. He holds diploma in Advanced Care Paramedicine from Fanshawe College, Advanced Emergency Medical Care Assistant Diploma from St. Clair College, and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Heath Sciences Degree from Thompson Rivers University.
