Prehospital Care Specialist
The Pre-Hospital Care Specialist (PHCS), in conjunction with the Base Hospital leaders and Medical Directors develops, facilitates and delivers educational opportunities for paramedics in the region. This would include the certification of new paramedics and continuing medical education for a broad range of practice competencies and medical directives. Using a just culture approach, looking at a standardized process with established benchmarks and analysis of paramedic patient care activities; the PHCS assures patient safety by evaluating performance and monitoring adherence to provincial standards.
Bio: Drew joined SWORBHP in January of 2022 as a part-time, now full-time Prehospital Care Specialist. Drew holds an Honour’s B.Sc. degree from University of Toronto, primary care paramedic diploma from Centennial College, and an advanced care paramedic diploma from the Rubes Center for EMS Education. Drew has spent most of his career working for Toronto Paramedic Services but recently transitioned into SWORBHP.
