Director

The Director is responsible for managing and leading the Regional Base Hospital program and the integrated programs within the Southwest Centre for Prehospital Medicine. The director ensures the delivery of quality services, medical direction, and advice paramedics in the region. The director represents London Health Sciences Centre and Southwestern Ontario on a provincial level and ensures the medical direction provided by the Regional Medical Director is followed and implemented from a legal, educational, and medically appropriate view to support pre-hospital emergency health care services.

Bio: Sue joined SWORBHP in October of 2013 as the Regional Program Manager. Her educational background includes a BScN from Queen’s University and a Master’s of Health Studies in Leadership from Athabasca University. She is a Greenbelt in Six Sigma, has certification in Lean and maintains her Canadian Emergency Nursing Certification. Sue’s leadership experience at London Health Sciences Centre includes manager roles in the Medicine Program at Victoria Hospital and the Adult and Children’s Emergency Departments at Victoria Hospital as well as the University Hospital ED. She also held the position of Interim Director for Pandemic Incident Management during the first wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to this she held a position as a Clinical Educator at LHSC and Bed Utilization Manager and ED Coordinator in Winnipeg. Her clinical experience is in emergency and critical care nursing. In 2011 Sue traveled to Tel Aviv, Israel with SWORBHP staff to study their CBRNE and Code Orange programs which helped in her leadership of the LHSC Emergency Program’s CBRNE and Code Orange Planning from 2009-2022. Sue was the Operational Co-Chair of the Ontario Base Hospital Group Medical Advisory Committee from 2015-2018.
